About This Event
The Mixed Team Air Pistol event pairs a male and female shooter to compete together against other national teams over 10 metres. Both shoot simultaneously at their respective targets, with team scores combining their individual performances. The format places a premium on teams where both athletes can perform consistently under pressure, as one poor series can undermine an otherwise strong partner performance.
Format
Qualification with combined scores from both teammates across 40 shots each determines the 8 finalist teams. The elimination final reduces the field team by team until one pair wins gold. The format creates a unique dynamic where shooters must manage both personal performance and awareness of their teammate’s progress.
Nations to Watch
China fields dominant mixed pairs in air pistol, drawing from the world’s deepest shooting talent pool. South Korea and India can assemble competitive mixed team combinations. Japan, Kazakhstan, and Chinese Taipei have also reached mixed team finals at major Asian shooting competitions.
