About This Event
The Mixed Team Air Rifle event combines one male and one female shooter from each nation competing together in a team format. The event reflects modern shooting’s commitment to gender equality and mixed-gender competition. Both athletes shoot simultaneously at their respective targets, with combined scores determining team rankings. The format adds a team dynamic to the individual precision of air rifle shooting.
Format
Qualification rounds with combined male and female scores from 40 shots each determine the 8 finalist teams. In the elimination final, teams shoot simultaneously with combined scores determining which team is eliminated after each round. The last team remaining wins the gold medal.
Nations to Watch
China combines world-class male and female air rifle shooters to form a formidable mixed team. South Korea and India also have the depth to field competitive mixed teams. Japan and Kazakhstan can draw from strong individual rifle pools to assemble medal-contending combinations.
