About This Event
Extreme Slalom is a head-to-head knockout format where four paddlers race simultaneously down the whitewater course through a reduced number of gates. Unlike traditional slalom where athletes race against the clock, Extreme Slalom is a direct racing format where crossing the finish line first wins the heat. Physical contact between boats can occur, and athletes must navigate both the course and their competitors.
Format
Heats of 4 paddlers race simultaneously. The first 2 finishers advance to the next round. Racing continues through quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final of 4 paddlers. The first to cross the finish line in the gold medal race wins. Disqualification applies for missed mandatory gates.
