About This Event
The 10m Air Pistol event is shot one-handed from a standing position at 10 metres, creating a uniquely demanding control challenge compared to two-handed rifle events. Athletes must hold the pistol steady with one arm extended while controlling their breathing and trigger pull. The target’s 10-ring is just 11.5mm in diameter at 10 metres, demanding exceptional precision.
Format
60 shots in qualification determine the 8 finalists. The elimination final format sees the lowest scorer removed after each scoring period until one athlete remains to claim gold. Electronic scoring provides real-time results for spectators and TV coverage.
