About This Event
Rapid Fire Pistol is the most athletically demanding shooting event. Athletes shoot at five targets simultaneously using a .22 calibre pistol from 25 metres, with time windows of 8, 6, and 4 seconds per series. The combination of speed, accuracy, and decisive trigger work under time pressure makes this a unique challenge requiring both athletic reflexes and technical precision.
Format
Two stages of qualification (40 shots each) determine the 6 finalists. The final involves a series of elimination rounds where athletes shoot at increasingly tight time limits. The format rewards athletes who can maintain accuracy even at the fastest speeds under competitive pressure.
