About This Event
The All-Around Final is the most prestigious individual event in artistic gymnastics, requiring athletes to compete on all six men’s apparatus: Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bar. The combined score from all six events determines the all-around champion. A true all-around gymnast must excel in strength events (rings, parallel bars), technique events (pommel horse), and combination events (floor, vault).
Format
The 24 highest-scoring gymnasts from qualification (maximum 2 per country) advance to the all-around final. All 24 compete on all six apparatus in rotation. The gymnast with the highest combined total from all six events wins the all-around gold medal.
Nations to Watch
Japan and China have dominated men’s artistic gymnastics at the Asian Games for decades, sharing all-around titles between their exceptional gymnasts.
