About This Event
The long jump requires a maximum-speed approach, precise take-off at the board, and controlled landing in the sand pit. China, Japan, and Kazakhstan have produced elite long jumpers who regularly exceed 8 metres.
Format
Qualification determines finalists. In the final, each athlete has six attempts. The longest valid jump wins. Wind readings are recorded — jumps aided by more than 2.0m/s wind are legal but marked.
