About This Event
Pole vault requires explosive sprinting, gymnastic strength, and perfect technical coordination. Japan, China, and South Korea have developed strong pole vault programmes, with athletes regularly clearing 5.70m at the Asian elite level.
Format
Qualification determines the finalist field. In the final, athletes begin at a nominated height and have three attempts at each bar. Three consecutive misses end the competition.
