About This Event
The Time Trial is cycling’s ‘race of truth’ — each rider sets off individually at timed intervals and races alone against the clock without drafting assistance. Aerodynamic equipment (TT bikes, time trial helmets, skin suits), pacing strategy, and sustained power output are the decisive factors. The fastest time over the set distance wins, with no tactics or team dynamics involved.
Format
Each rider starts individually from a ramp at timed intervals. The course is ridden once. The rider completing the distance in the shortest elapsed time wins gold. Riders receive intermediate time checks and can see rival splits during their effort.
Nations to Watch
Kazakhstan’s cyclists, with their continental professional racing experience, regularly challenge for Time Trial honours at the Asian Games. Japan and South Korea also field strong TT specialists. Iran produces powerful cyclists who are competitive in time trial events across Asian competition.
