About This Event
The Single Sculls (1x) is the definitive individual rowing event. One rower propels a narrow shell using two oars (sculling) over a 2000-metre course. The event demands supreme cardiovascular fitness, technical rowing efficiency, and tactical pacing. Rowers cannot rely on teammates — every metre of the race is a personal battle of power and endurance.
Format
Heats, repechages, and semifinals determine who qualifies for the gold medal final. In the final, 6-8 boats race over 2000 metres. The first boat to cross the finish line wins gold. A false start results in a yellow card; two yellow cards mean exclusion.
