About This Event
Skeet shooting presents clay targets crossing the shooting area on predictable but challenging flight paths from two high houses on either side of a semicircular range. Athletes move through seven shooting stations plus a central station, taking shots from different angles at each position. The crossing angles and lead required vary considerably between stations, testing target acquisition and shotgun timing across a range of scenarios.
Format
125 targets in qualification determine the 6 finalists who shoot 50 additional targets in the elimination final. Ties are resolved by shoot-offs. The athlete breaking the most targets through the final wins gold.
Nations to Watch
Kuwait, Qatar, and other Gulf Asian Games nations have been historically strong in skeet shooting. Japan, China, and South Korea have developed competitive skeet programmes. The sport rewards athletes from nations with strong shooting cultures and access to clay target ranges.
