About This Event
Sanda (San Shou) is the full-contact combat discipline of Wushu, incorporating punches, kicks, and throws on a raised platform (lei tai). The 60kg category features quick, technical fighters who combine striking accuracy with effective takedown and throw techniques. Points are scored for clean hits and successful throws; wrestlers off the lei tai score points for the opponent.
Format
Single-elimination bracket with bronze medal bouts. Gold medal match: three 2-minute rounds. Points scored for hits and throws; deductions for violations. The fighter with more points at the end wins; a throw-off resolves ties.
Nations to Watch
China has dominated Sanda at the Asian Games for decades. Iran and Kazakhstan also produce strong Sanda fighters. Vietnam and Myanmar have growing Sanda programmes that regularly produce Asian Games medal contenders.
