About This Event
Women’s 10m Air Pistol requires the same one-handed shooting technique as the men’s event, shot from a standing position at 10 metres. The event tests the ability to keep the pistol steady and deliver consistent trigger pulls while managing competitive pressure. Scores routinely approach perfect in qualification at the elite level, making the final elimination shoot decisive.
Format
60 qualification shots select 8 finalists. The final uses an elimination format — after each scoring phase, the lowest-ranked shooter is removed until one winner remains. The format creates compelling drama as elimination pressure mounts through the competition.
Nations to Watch
China has a dominant tradition in women’s air pistol at the Asian Games. South Korea and India are consistent rivals for gold and silver. Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Kazakhstan all field competitive women’s air pistol shooters who regularly reach the final.
