About This Event
Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions requires shooting from kneeling, prone, and standing positions at 50 metres. The transition between positions adds an extra challenge as athletes must readjust their hold, stance, and sighting for each discipline. The standing position — the final and most demanding — is where most finals are decided, as it requires the greatest balance and breath control.
Format
45 shots per position in qualification determine 8 finalists. The elimination final is shot from the standing position. Athletes are eliminated after each scoring period until one remains. Scores of 10.0 (innermost ring) are needed consistently for medal contention in modern finals.

China and South Korea have produced world-class women’s rifle shooters. India’s women’s shooting team has risen dramatically in global rankings in recent years and regularly challenges at the Asian Games. Japan and Kazakhstan also field strong competitors in this discipline.
