About This Event
The heptathlon covers 100mH, high jump, shot put and 200m on day one; followed by long jump, javelin and 800m on day two. Points from each event are totalled for the final ranking.
Format
Two-day competition using IAAF scoring tables. Seven events. Highest total points wins gold.
Nations to Watch
China, Japan, and South Korea have the strongest heptathlon programmes in Asia. Kazakhstan also produces competitive multi-event athletes.
