The Badminton Session 3 (Event Code: BDM03) has been officially included in the 20th Asian Games by the badminton competition. Badminton tournaments will play out the early round matches of the tournament with preliminary round games during this session.

This game will be part of the first Asian Games 2026 sports program in Japan with the best athletes from all Asia.

How This Badminton Event Works

The Badminton games during the Asian Games will be conducted according to the official rules of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). This is to align all games against international standards for Olympic- and world-level competition in Session 3.

Match Format

All matches in this session follow the standard BWF format:

Best of 3 games
Each game played to 21 points
Player/pair must win by at least 2 points
If score reaches 29–29, the next point wins the game (30-point cap)

Venue & Host Country – Badminton BDM03 Asian Games 2026

The Asian Games 26 (AG26) will take place in the country that will host the games, Japan. The games are being held in several cities of Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya and the badminton event is being held in Ichinomiya City.

It is held at Ichinamiya City Municipal Gymnasium (Ichii Shinkin Arena) in Ichinamiya in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. This is an indoor arena which is specially chosen for badminton games and matches, conforming to the international standard for the arrangement of court, badminton chairs and rooms.
