In Session EQU02: riders and horses must run a trail through a fixed course which includes several obstacle challenges. The aim will be to finish as quickly as possible, safely and without touching any obstacles. There are penalty points given for failures to comply, run-out, falls and time limit violations. The less penalty points that the competitors have, the better the results.
Cross-Country Course Format
It is intended to encourage the horse and rider to uphold their qualities; endurance, courage, speed and jumping. Competitors come up against natural and man-made barriers, some of which may include:
- Water jumps
- Ditches
- Banks and drops
- Logs and timber fences
- Combination obstacles
- Narrow jumping elements
