The 20th Asian Games (Aichi–Nagoya 2026) field hockey tournament is set to kick off on 20 September 2026, which is one of the earliest events during that tournament. Initially, the competition will begin with the highest-ranked national field hockey teams from around Asia competing in the field hockey tournament and, in the second phase, there will be separate men’s and women’s tournaments.

Part of early round robin session to give teams a shot at the advanced Final, moving on to the knockout stages.

What is Field Hockey

Field hockey is a fast-paced team game, played between teams of 11 fielders.

Basic Objective

  • Score more goals than the opponent
  • Use a curved hockey stick to hit a hard ball into the opponent’s goal

The first five Asian Games 2026 games of field hockey will be hosted at Gifu Prefecture’s Green Stadium, home to the entire tournament in Japan.

The competition follows a structured international format:
