What is Sepak Takraw

A traditional and highly athletic game, Sepak Takraw is essentially a “kick volleyball”, played primarily in Southeast Asia where players use their feet, knees, chest and head to play the game.

Based on the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) rules, the official competition structure should be Day 1 consisting of two major match sessions and takes place at the same venue of competition.

How the Game is Played

It’s played on a court similar to volleyball and consists of two teams. In the main format of Regu, there are 3 players per team on!During the main game, Regu, each team is made of 3 players. Players may not use their hands – only their feet, legs, chest and head.

  • The game starts with a serve (called a “tekong” serve)
  • Teams pass the ball up to 3 touches before sending it over the net
  • The goal is to land the ball in the opponent’s court or force an error
