There are several individual singles matches played between the players from the competing nations, between which the tie is played. The sole result from these individual games is to win the tie, the team that wins the most individual games, thus gains an important point in the group stages.

Competition Rules

Each participating nation may register a maximum of four players in both the men’s and women’s team competitions.

A key regulation for the team event is the No Double-Duty Rule. Players selected to compete in the team competition on 24 September are not eligible to participate later in the individual singles or mixed doubles events.
