About This Event
The 100m Breaststroke is a unique combination of explosive power and strict technical requirements. Swimmers must execute legal breaststroke — simultaneous arm movements and frog kicks — for 2 lengths at maximum speed. The underwater pullout after the start and turn is the most hydrodynamically efficient phase and heavily influences the final time.
Format
Heats select the 8 fastest women for the gold medal race. Technical violations including illegal turns, asymmetric kicks, or early arm recovery can result in disqualification even in the final. The swimmer with the fastest legal time wins.
