About This Event
The 4×200m Freestyle Relay tests squad depth and endurance across four 200-metre freestyle legs. Each swimmer must maintain consistent speed over a longer individual distance, making pacing and technical efficiency more critical than in sprint relays. The event rewards nations with exceptional depth in women’s middle-distance freestyle.
Format
Teams of 4 each swim a 200m freestyle leg consecutively. Legal exchanges are mandatory. With 800 total metres to cover, nations cannot rely on a single star performer — four strong individual legs are needed for a medal-winning performance.
