About This Event
The 100m Backstroke is a high-speed sprint event swum on the swimmer’s back. Competitors start from the pool wall and must navigate 2 lengths of the 50-metre pool in the fastest time possible. Explosive starts, efficient turns, and powerful arm strokes are essential in this discipline.
Format
Heats determine finalists. The 8 fastest swimmers contest the final, seeded with the fastest qualifiers in the centre lanes. The swimmer completing 100 metres backstroke in the shortest time wins gold.
