About This Event
Women’s 10m Air Rifle demands the same extraordinary precision as the men’s event over the same distance and target size. Female athletes shoot from a standing position at 10 metres, requiring peak concentration, body stability, and trigger control. The sport is mentally as demanding as it is physically, with athletes competing to place shots within a target smaller than a grain of rice.
Format
60 shots in qualification select the 8 finalists who compete in the elimination final format. Athletes are eliminated after ranking lowest in successive scoring periods. The last shooter standing wins gold. The elimination format creates dramatic tension as the field narrows.
Nations to Watch
China produces outstanding women’s air rifle shooters and has claimed multiple Asian Games titles. South Korea is the fiercest rival. India has developed a powerful women’s shooting programme in recent years. Japan and Kazakhstan also field competitive women’s rifle shooters.
