About This Event
Women’s Kata at the Asian Games requires athletes to perform precise, powerful sequences of techniques against imaginary opponents. Judges evaluate the technical quality of each movement — accuracy of stances, hand techniques, and kicks — alongside physical expression through speed, power, focus, and control. The choice of kata influences the maximum achievable score.
Format
Flag judging in preliminary rounds determines finalists. The final consists of two rounds of kata performance. Scores from each judge are combined (with highest/lowest discarded). The woman achieving the highest total technical and athletic score wins gold.
Nations to Watch
Japan fields world-class women’s kata performers who regularly win at Asian Games level. Iran and Saudi Arabia also produce strong women’s kata competitors.
