About This Event
The high jump requires athletes to clear a horizontal bar without knocking it down, jumping backwards (Fosbury Flop). Qatar, China, and Japan have produced elite high jumpers in recent cycles.
Format
Qualification session determines finalists. In the final, athletes have three attempts at each height. When a bar height is cleared, athletes proceed to the next. Misses at three consecutive attempts result in elimination.
Nations to Watch
Qatar’s Mutaz Essa Barshim is the gold standard globally — his dominance at Asian Games is expected to continue. China and Japan provide domestic depth in this event.
